Tipping at a spa
What is the proper way to tip for spa services?

The spa services usually require tipping practices common to services related businesses A flat amount is usually not the way to tip, but rather base your tip upon the quality and personal satisfaction you receive for your services. It is common to tip between 10% and 15% of the cost of service. So, for a service that you pay $100 for, your tip would be between $10 and $15. You do not need to tip owners of a spa who also provide services.

Many times spa's will have envelopes at the reception desk that allow you to put the name of the therapist on it. This is a nice place to put a note giving feedback on their services. Check this out before hand. It is OK to ask and it will make your experience stress free if you check out tipping policies ahead of time.

Sometimes, a tip is added to your bill and you have little control over what you pay. Be sure to read the fine print.

If you use a local spa often, consider being using the same standard as you would if you were traveling. Many times people treat their local therapists differently-- tipping them less. They are members of your community and need your support. Your tips a greatly appreciated by them and they will reward you generously.
